Top tips for leaving your pet while you take a holiday.

We know that leaving your pet when you go away can be traumatic, maybe more so for you then for them. At Lovelly Pet Sitters, we try to ease that discomfort by keeping your pets environment and routine as close to normal as possible.

Treats, toys, your scent left on clothing and furniture can all help pets to feel comfortable in their home with a new visitor coming to care for them.

We’ve asked some of our lovelly sitters for their top tips on things that owners can do when leaving their pets with a sitter while they are on holidays, here’s what they had to say!

Make sure someone will take the time to visit them and give them some human interaction. Also, plenty of toys and treats to help them through missing you.
– Victoria M

Always leave plenty of treats in the cupboard! (and maybe even some for the petsitter ;))
– Rhi T

Pets are happiest when they stick to their usual routine, so leave clear instructions for your house-sitter about how to minimise disruptions for your pets.
– Ninya M

Book me! Your pet will get loads of cuddles!
– Tess C

Leave them their favourite treat and always leave them enough food! Pre packaged portions is really helpful for us.
– Mathew Q

As much as some kennels/ catteries have improved, I believe that it is always best to reduce your fur/feather-child’s stress and anxiety by leaving them in their natural environment and having a pet sitter to try and maintain their regular routine. Fill your pet-sitter in on the routine and what your animal loves and if your pet is anxious then have the pet-sitter come around to meet them whilst you’re there first. Leave a piece of clothing with your scent on it so they know that you’re coming back and lastly, to support YOU, ask your pet-sitter to send photos or updates if you want so that you can see your pet relaxed and enjoying their own environment as usual.
– Lexi

What does your business do?
I teach people to tune into animal language. Bring both human and animal on the same wave length, so they experience deep connections and pure happiness…and… together they are well behaved!

I provide one-on-one sessions, group workshops and online facilitation of healing, communicating with animals and personal coaching.

What’s your passion?
Working with animals and people; bringing them closer together generating harmony and love around the world, unconditionally.

What do you love most about running your business?
Meeting new people, freedom and doing thing the way I feel is the best way, taking into consideration suggestions from other who have been there before. It is a learning every day and I am loving it.

Tell us, with an anecdote, why your business has changed your life?
My business changed my life in a way that I wouldn’t have met so many different people and have found people who are on my page. I come from a corporate industry working with high level executives, who not always understood my philosophy, values and what I am here to do.  Now that I have built my ‘tribe’ it is so much more fun and easy to do what I love doing.

How do you manage a work/life balance?
It is challenging, there is no doubt about that, as I would love to be able to work 80 hours on my business, but I have a social life, need to look after ME and also have my family and dogs to consider. I use Google Apps for Work to manage all my business admin, including scheduling and have a coach who is keeping me accountable for what I do as well as challenges me on what I feel/fear/believe and accomplish.

Your favourite inspiration quotes?
“I am in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing and everything  is OK”

“It’s not enough to be good at what you do, you must be great at who you are”

The four words that best describe your business?
Vibrant, unique, exciting and soulful.

Our pet sitter Taty believes “Your best friend deserves the best care”

We love adding some international flavour to our pet sitter mix. Meet Taty from Brazil!! She’s based for now in Sydney and we love having this caring lady available to care for your lovelly pets. Let’s learn some more about her!

Name: Taty
Age: 27
Occupation: Sales Assistant
Hometown: Minas Novas/ Brazil – but for now, Sydney!

Why do you love pets?
A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. Some water or a stick will do just fine. A dog doesn`t care if you are rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he`ll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?

What are your hobbies?
Reading, walking, swimming.

Favourite activity when you’re with a pet?
Play time and lots of cuddles.

Must see pet movie?
Marley & me
Hachiko: A dog’s story

Any advice for owners leaving their pets at home?
Find someone to take care of them while you are away, and love them as you do!

Taty is primarily available in Sydney, NSW.
